What You Need To Do For Every Beat!

When you look at the process of making beats, making beats is actually just 10% of everything. When you want to promote your beats online, through social media and YouTube you really have to stand out to make a difference. Im trying to do this by using my own unique and fresh Reggae and Dancehall instrumentals combined with awesome graphic designs. Its a lot of work, but im enjoying every step of the way. Im using a release schedule now, to manage my time better.

To give you a small idea what needs to be done for One Single riddim, see this (click image to enlarge);

Release Schedule - Beats, Riddims, Instrumentals - Benn-i

Process of making and promoting Beats in steps;

  1. Coming up with an Idea for a new song/beat/riddim/instrumental;
  2. Turning this idea into a beat, arranging everything and build it up;
  3. Mixing and mastering the beat and check everything;
  4. Tagging of the beat (with tag “Benn-i Productions, this is needed for protection otherwise people will steal your beats);
  5. Exports in Mp3, WAV, tagged and untagged + upload to Mediafire (make folder for artwork and music)
  6. Choose title for the beat (has to fit the genre, mood and feeling and title may not exist);
  7. Choose an awesome royalty free graphic design from FreePik, PixaBay or other stockphoto sites (I always look for *PSD or *.AI files, so i can edit everything with Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator);
  8. Make an awesome 3d box graphic with Photoshop for the Beat;
  9. Make an awesome graphic with Canva for YouTube thumbnails and equalizer image;
  10. Make a Custom Video in Adobe After Effects (without effects), combining the artwork for the eq from step 7 with the equalizer and music. So everything is synched and the EQ responds to the song;
  11. Render the Music Video in 1080P format;
  12. Edit the Video with Camtasia and include the Benn-i Productions intro with a “cube rotate” effect and high quality vid + music;
  13. Upload the Beat to Benn-i Productions in the Beatstore;
  14. Upload the Beat to Beatstars / Reggaebeats.shop;
  15. Upload the Beat to SoundCloud, include descriptions/tags and artwork;
  16. Upload the Beat to YouTube, include descriptions/tags, artwork, endscreen, notatations and keyword optimization;
  17. Write new blog article on Benn-i Productions about new beats (make blog image with Canva);
  18. Add the new beats in my Google Adwords Campaign and create Call to action overlays for YouTube;
  19. Edit Beatstars and Benn-i Productions with YouTube Video, synched with the right beat;
  20. Social Media Promotion (Twitter (x3), Facebook Fan Page, Google+, Tumblr, Reddit, LinkedIn, Pinterest);
  21. Instagram “Coming Soon” feature (made with iMovie) and when beat is released post beat with all links to above.
  22. Add Video to Benn-i Productions with SEO keywords and description

Thats it! 22 Steps for every beat/riddim/instrumental.. Its like a one man machine…

Making beats online is about Music, Marketing, Promotion, Social Media, Graphics and your Brand.
