I got +25 songs for ya.

1. Shame – Snow and Mykal Rose

You remember Snow? Official name; Darrin Kenneth O’Brien?

What if i say; “Informer“?

I loved this song back in the days at college (still do). Everybody loved it, thats why it topped the Billboard charts in 1993.

The song “Informer” was produced by M.C. Shan.

Now Snow is back and he teamed up with Mykal Rose! Listen to the brand new song; Shame.

In this record Snow will explain to his fans why he disappeared so long from the music scene.

Here is the song Shame by Snow and Mykal Rose at the official SoundCloud channel of Snow;

Now he is back with this album called “Diskodub“. Released in December 2014.

The song “Tell Dem” is produced by Dreadsquad and reminded me immediately to the 90’s;

Shabba Ranks and Deborah Glasgow on the Champion Lover Riddim (produced by Augustus “Gussie” Clark)

The song “Tell Dem” features some unique elements from that riddim. Which is awesome, cause the production is so tight. Big up for Dreadsquad.

The song “Blaze it Up” from the EP “Diskodub” also comes with a great remix by Manudigital.

Chronicle is a talented Jamaican singer inspired in his style by Barrington Levy (Jr. General), he has been around for a while already recording for a lot of Jamaican labels.

In the 90’s he started working with Bobby Konders (who also re-did the Champion Lover Riddim in the 90’s)

18. Sacrifice – Nyanda

From the duo Brick and Lace, here comes Nyanda with the song “Sacrifice“.

A nice blend of reggae, pop and some cool dubstep elements.

Nyanda did more solo tracks and collaborated with different artists.

I personally like the song “Won’t Take You Back” on the Xleration Riddim.

But thats probably because the Xleration riddim has some elements of the Tempo Riddim.

Listen to Sacrifice by Nyanda on her official SoundCloud channel;

19. Joy in the Morning – Nesbeth

When i hear the horns in the intro, i immediately get flashback to all the tracks released on the original Baba Boom Riddim.

The Baba Boom riddim has a long history of producers and versions, varying from;

The Lonely Bull by Herb Alpert & Tijuana Brass  from 1962 (check the horns around 0.22), to Jamaicans, Jackie Mittoo and producers; ArthurDukeReid and Coxsone Dodd.

In the 90’s i listened to Born Jamericans with the song “Boom Shak A Tak” on my walkman (thats a thing where you actually can play cassettes with), while delivering the papers in the neighborhood. The song Boom Shak A Tak also has some elements from the Baba Boom Riddim.

The song by Born Jamericans was one of my favorites back then and made me deliver my papers in a relaxed way. 🙂
